Barrington and Allgeier receive Pro Football Network All-America recognition
BRISTOL, Conn. — BYU left guard Clark Barrington was named Pro Football Network Third Team All-American today, while running Tyler Allgeier received Honorable Mention All-America recognition from the Network.
For Barrington the PFN honor becomes his third All-America citation of the season, having already been named Second Team All-American by Action Network and third team by Pro Football Focus. The sophomore from Spokane, Washington, started every game for the Cougars and was the highest-graded lineman. He helped BYU rank No. 17 in the nation in total offense with 457.1 yards per game and was a big reason the Cougars’ offensive line was named to the Joe Moore Award Midseason Watch List.
Allgeier picks up his second All-America recognition having previously been named Sporting News Second Team All-American. The sophomore from Fontana, California, was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist and is tied for the national lead in rushing touchdowns with 20. Allgeier is No. 8 nationally in rushing yards with 1,409 and is No. 6 in rushing yards per game with 117.4.
Barrington and Allgeier lead BYU into battle this Saturday, Dec. 18 in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl against UAB. The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CST and will be televised on ABC.
