ESPN, BYUtv announce 2021 BYU football television plans
PROVO, Utah — BYU television partners ESPN and BYUtv today announced broadcast plans for 2021 BYU football home games and the team's season opener in Las Vegas. The Cougars start the year with three-straight games on ESPN.
BYU opens the season against Arizona in the 2021 Vegas Kickoff Classic on Sept. 4 on ESPN in a 7:30 p.m. PT kickoff. The nationally featured game pits the Cougars and Wildcats facing off in Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders.
The Cougars begin their home schedule on Sept. 11 hosting in-state rival Utah at 8:15 p.m. MT on ESPN. The following week, ESPN will again bring a national television audience to Provo for an 8:15 p.m. MT game between BYU and Arizona State at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
ESPN and BYUtv also announced coverage plans for the rest of BYU's home games in 2021. Matchups in Provo against South Florida (Sept. 25), Boise State (Oct. 9) and Virginia (Oct. 30) will be televised on one of the ESPN networks (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU), with game times and the specific networks to be determined at a later date, subject to ESPN’s twelve-day/six-day selection process. BYU's final home game against Idaho State on Nov. 6 is set to kick at 1 p.m. MT on BYUtv and ESPN3.
To date, initial television plans have been announced for eight of BYU’s 12 regular-season games, including seven on ESPN Networks. BYU’s game at Utah State on Oct. 1 will be televised on the CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m. MT. Additional television plans and kick times will be announced at a later date.
BYU is planning on a return to full capacity in LaVell Edwards Stadium this fall for the 2021 football season. The renewal process for returning BYU season ticket holders is currently underway. Once existing renewals are completed, new season tickets will go on sale to the public in July at BYUTickets.com. Fans can also immediately reserve their place to purchase new season tickets on the ticketing website. Individual game tickets are also expected to go on sale in July.
