PROVO, Utah —  BYU (9-1) dropped to No. 14 in The Associated Press Top 25 and No. 16 in the Amway Coaches Poll after coming up just short of the goal line on the last play of the game in a 22-17 loss at No. 14 Coastal Carolina on Saturday. The Chanticleers moved up to No. 11 (AP) and No. 13 (Coaches) in the national polls on Sunday.

The AP voters kept the top seven teams the same, while the coaches moved Texas A&M (7-1) to No. 5 ahead of Florida (8-1) at No. 6, which matches the AP poll at those two spots. Ohio State remains No. 3 by AP and No. 4 by the coaches.  Alabama (9-0) is in the top spot in both polls followed by Notre Dame (10-0) with Clemson (9-1) No. 3 by the coaches and No. 4 in AP. Cincinnati (8-0) stayed at No. 7 in both rankings.

Marshall, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Washington all fell out of the top-25 rankings in both polls this week, whiles North Carolina (No 20 AP/Coaches), Colorado (No. 21 AP/No. 22Coaches), Texas (No. 23 AP/Coaches), Buffalo (No. 24 AP) and NC State (No. 24 Coaches) joined the rankings.

The Cougars, who had been ranked No. 8 the prior four weeks, have been ranked in each of the 13 regular-season polls released this year. The last time the Cougars were ranked in 13 consecutive weeks during a season was in 2008 when BYU was ranked in all 17 polls of the season to bridge a string of 29 consecutive weeks ranked from Nov. 18, 2007 to Oct. 18, 2009.

BYU will host former conference foe San Diego State (4-3) this Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. MST.
