Zach Wilson, Isaiah Kaufusi added to 2020 award watch lists

PROVO, Utah – BYU junior quarterback Zach Wilson and senior linebacker Isaiah Kaufusi have been added to various 2020 award watch lists this week. 

Wilson has been added to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List and the College Football Performance Awards Performer of the Year Watch List. The Golden Arm Award is presented annually to the top upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class while the CFPA Performer of the Year honors the nation's best player. 

Kaufusi was added to the 2020 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List. The Lott IMPACT Trophy represents players who have made the biggest IMPACT on their teams both on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Wilson leads the nation in completion percentage at 78.7 percent, is second in pass efficiency with a rating of 207.68 and third in total passing yards at 1,641. He is averaging 328.2 passing yards per game, good for No. 7 in the FBS. Wilson is also tied for seventh in passing touchdowns with 12 and leads all FBS quarterbacks with six rushing scores.

Most recently, Wilson completed 25 of 35 passes for a career-best 400 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 11/12 BYU to a 43-26 win over Houston on the road. He is also on the Maxwell and Davey O'Brien Award watch lists this season. 

Kaufusi is tied for the team lead with 32 total tackles and has 3.5 tackles for loss, including three sacks, two forced fumbles and one quarterback hurry. His two forced fumbles are tied for fourth nationally and three sacks ties for 23rd. Kaufusi is also on the Bronko Nagurski Watch List.

The Golden Arm Award winner will be announced on Dec. 21. The CFPA National Performer of the Year will be announced January 14, 2021 and the Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced Feb. 21, 2021.
