PROVO, Utah — ESPN today announced the 2019 SoFi Hawai’i Bowl will be played on Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. HT (6 p.m. MT) on ESPN. The 2019 game in Aloha Stadium marks the 18th edition of the Hawai’i Bowl, which was first played on Dec. 25, 2002.

As previously announced, the BYU football team is scheduled to play in the SoFi Hawai’i Bowl at the conclusion of the 2019 season if the Cougars are bowl eligible and are not selected to participate in a New Year’s Six bowl game.

BYU has participated in 36 bowl games dating back to the 1974 Fiesta Bowl. The Cougars have played in 18 different bowls in 11 states—including the 1992 Aloha Bowl versus Kansas on Christmas Day in Honolulu. BYU is certainly no stranger to playing football games in Hawai’i, having made 22 appearances in the Islands since its first game against the University of Hawai’i in Honolulu on Dec. 10, 1930.
