BYU football enters national rankings after win over Wisconsin
PROVO, Utah — Coming off a 24-21 win at No. 6 Wisconsin on Saturday, BYU football entered the national rankings Sunday at No. 25 in The Associated Press Top 25.
The last time BYU was ranked in the top 25 was during the 2015 season when the Cougars were ranked as high as No. 19. BYU entered the polls that year after a 2-0 start with wins at Nebraska and at home against No. 20 Boise State.
The win over the Broncos was also the last time the Cougars defeated a ranked opponent, prior to Saturday’s win at Wisconsin. BYU’s victory at Camp Randall Stadium snapped the Badgers’ 41-game nonconference home winning streak that dated back to 2003.
The Cougars are off to a 2-1 start this season with road wins at Arizona (28-23) and No. 6 Wisconsin (24-21) and a home loss to Cal (21-18). BYU hosts McNeese State at 4 p.m. MDT on Saturday, Sept. 22 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The game will be televised live on BYUtv and ESPN3.
