PROVO, Utah (May 3, 2018) — Brigham Young University and Utah State University today announced the schools have signed a contract that will add two additional games to the current football series, extending the ongoing series through 2022.

The two games will be played at Utah State on Oct. 1, 2021 and at BYU on Sept. 30, 2022—both slated for Friday night. The in-state rivals are now scheduled to meet at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo in 2018, 2020 and 2022 and at Maverik Stadium in Logan in 2019 and 2021. Kickoff times and broadcast plans will be announced at a future date.

“There’s a lot of history and tradition in our longstanding football series with Utah State,” said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. “I appreciated working with John Hartwell to further extend the series into the future. I have loved the in-state rivalry with USU as a player, coach and now as an administrator. I look forward to these future games.”

The 2017 game at Maverik Stadium in Logan was the 87th meeting between the two schools in a series that dates back to 1922—BYU’s first official collegiate football season. The Cougars lead the overall series 48-36-3. Only the University of Utah has played more games (92) against BYU than Utah State.
