BYU players at postseason all-star games
PROVO – Linebacker Fred Warner completed an impressive week at the 2018 Reese's Senior Bowl on Saturday as one of four BYU players invited to participate in postseason all-star games this month.
Warner started for the North team and totaled six tackles, including two solo stops. Warner finished the game tied for the second-most tackles on the North squad. The South defeated the North 45-16 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
The Senior Bowl is perhaps nation's most unique football game and football's premier senior showcase event. It annually features the country's best senior collegiate football players and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South that are coached by the entire coaching staffs of two National Football League teams.
Warner garnered attention throughout the week for his play as the teams prepared for Saturday's game. The coaching staffs for the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans coached the teams at this year's Senior Bowl. Practices on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were televised live by NFL Network and the Wednesday and Thursday practices will also be covered live by ESPN on ESPNU. The NFL Network produced hour-long recap shows each evening as well.

In addition to Warner, former BYU wide receiver Jonah Trinnaman, offensive lineman Tuni Kanuch and defensive back Micah Hannemann were invited to participate in a postseason all-star game.
Trinnaman was invited to participate in the seventh annual NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Jan. 20, but unfortunately was unable to showcase his skills at the game due to an untimely illness. The 112-man roster was split into two groups: the National team, led by Super Bowl-winning coach Mike Martz, and the American team, coached by Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green. Trinnaman was expected to get work as a receiver and also a kick returner for the American team before he was unable to play due to illness.
Kanuch and Hannemann both played in the Spiral Tropical Bowl FBS All-American game ton Jan. 14. Kanuch and Hannemann participated on the National team roster for the game that took place in Daytona Beach, Florida, at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium. Hannemann was credited with one tackle on the defensive side of the ball, while Kanuch started on the offensive line and saw extensive action. The American team defeated the National team 26-20 in a close contest.
Since 2016, more than 110 players from the Tropical Bowl have gone on to the NFL, with others also going to the CFL and Pro Arena leagues. The Tropical Bowl is considered a top bowl game by scouts and is attended by almost every NFL team. Read more about the Tropical Bowl.
