After an MRI and further evaluation, BYU quarterback Taysom Hill will not play in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl due to a left-elbow strain suffered during the Cougars’ 28-10 win over Utah State on Saturday. Hill led BYU to an 8-4 regular season record, including wins in seven of the last eight games.

Hill, a senior, won 23 games as a starting quarterback at BYU. He has accounted for 9,744 total yards of offense which ranks No. 4 in school history, just ahead of Jim McMahon. He has 6,929 passing yards and 2,815 rushing yards. Hill has the most rushing yards by any BYU quarterback and is fifth among all players. He also has 75 total touchdowns (43 passing, 32 rushing), No. 5 all-time at BYU, surpassing Steve Young during Saturday’s game.
