BYU50 sweeps across Utah on Saturday as BYU football fall camp gets underway

Five fan events take place in Utah during August, including BYU50, the Big Blue Bash, Cougar Kickoff, Cougar Sale and Movie Night at LaVell Edwards Stadium

PROVO, Utah — BYU football starts fall camp on Friday in preparation for the 2016 season. BYU opens the season on Sept. 3 facing the Arizona Wildcats in the Cactus Kickoff Classic being played at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.  

BYU50, the annual social media campaign that allows Cougar fans to share in the buildup to the season while winning BYU merchandise, continues its sweep across the country with its featured day in Utah taking place on Saturday. In addition, fans can take advantage of a several other events in August, including the Big Blue Bash, Cougar Kickoff, Cougar Sale and Movie Night at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

BYU50 is set to sweep through the state of Utah this Saturday. By following BYU on Twitter (@BYUCougars), Facebook (Facebook.com/BYUFootball), Instagram (BYU Cougars) or Snapchat (BYUAthletics), fans all across the state will have the opportunity to locate and win one of 33 BYU boxes placed throughout Utah on Saturday. In addition, 10 teams that qualify in advance via social media will be invited to participate in a special amazing race challenge Saturday morning to win even more BYU gear and merchandise. Follow BYU on social media and use the hashtag #BYU50. 

Big Blue Bash
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake, offensive coordinator Ty Detmer and members of the team will participate at the annual Big Blue Bash fan party hosted by the Cougar Club’s Salt Lake Chapter on Friday evening, Aug. 12. This year’s Big Blue Bash will take place at America First Pavilion at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy. Gates and food concessions open for the event at 6 p.m. with the program and speakers beginning at 7 p.m. The Big Blue Bash will be hosted by BYU Sports Nation's Jarom Jordan and Spencer Linton along with BYUtv analyst and former BYU quarterback Blaine Fowler. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 through the Cougar Club at 801-422-2583 or at the door for $10. Open to all fans, the event will also include fun activities for all ages and a silent auction. 

Cougar Kickoff
The 12th annual Cougar Kickoff is scheduled from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Haws Field. Cougar Club members can attend starting at 5:30 p.m. Athletes from the football, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and cross country teams will be available to sign autographs and run games and drills for fans and kids. Fans will also have the chance to take photos with Cosmo, the Cheer team and the Cougarettes. Admission is free.

Cougar Sale
In conjunction with Cougar Kickoff, the annual Cougar Sale takes place on August 17 in the adjacent Indoor Practice Facility beginning at 5 p.m. Cougar Club members can gain early admission at 4:30 p.m. by presenting their membership card. The Cougar Sale, which goes to 7 p.m., allows fans to pick up gameday shirts and posters and purchase game-worn apparel, jerseys and more. Admission is free.

Movie Night at LaVell Edwards Stadium
Movie Night at LaVell Edwards Stadium takes place Friday night, Aug. 19. Gates 1 and 11 will open at 8 p.m. with the movie “Remember the Titans” starting at 9 p.m. Parking will be available in the south and southeast lots on movie night. Fans should bring blankets (no chairs) to sit on the field. The event is free. Concessions will be open on the field for fans.
