BYU Football Media Day on Thursday
PROVO, Utah – BYU will host its sixth annual Football Media Day on Thursday, June 30 at the BYU Broadcasting Building.
In addition to the many interview sessions attended by the media throughout the day, fans can expect a day filled with BYU football programming on BYUtv and other news outlets, including ESPN3. BYUtv will broadcast nearly 24 straight hours of programming about BYU football starting at 6 a.m. MDT and running until 3 a.m. the following morning, including exclusive new shows like special episodes of BYU Sports Nation and showings of some of BYU football’s past legacy games. In addition to the television broadcasts, fans can tune in to BYUtv.org for live web chats at three different times throughout the day—at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 pm. MDT to hear more from BYU coaches, standout players and a few special guests. Fans can also stay connected with constant social media interaction all day.
Among the highlights of the day will be two new live shows and a special two-hour BYU Sports Nation. The first live show, "The State of the Program," will air at 9 a.m. MDT (11 a.m. EDT) and feature athletic director Tom Holmoe, head coach Kalani Sitake, assistant coaches and current players discussing the football program as it prepares for the 2016 season. "The State of the Program" will also feature ESPN’s Trevor Matich and be simulcast on ESPN3 in addition to BYUtv and BYUtv.org
Following the first live show, "BYU Sports Nation" will air at 10 a.m. MDT (12 p.m. EDT) on both BYUtv and BYU Radio with an extended two-hour show featuring live interviews with Coach Sitake and other special guests.
The second live show, “BYU Football: 1996 Revisited,” will air at 2 p.m. MDT (4 p.m. EDT) and will celebrate the 1996 Cotton Bowl winning BYU Football team that set an NCAA record with 14 wins. Football alums participating include Shay Muirbrook, Tim McTyer, Omarr Morgan, Ronney Jenkins, Larry Moore, K.O. Kealaluhi, Kaipo McGuire, James Dye, head coach LaVell Edwards and others. It will also be simulcast on ESPN3.
The 1996 team will also be a part of a special BYU Sports Nation episode airing at 8 p.m. MDT with more interviews from the 14-1 squad.
BYU Radio, available on SiriusXM Channel 143, will also be part of the day with original content along with simulcasts of the new BYUtv shows. Additional local, live radio broadcasts will originate from Football Media Day, including special live coverage on KSL Newsradio from 1-3 p.m. MDT.
If you miss "The State of the Program," or "BYU Football:1996 Revisited" during the day, they will be rebroadcast later during primetime from 6-8 p.m. MT. The morning two-hour edition of BYU Sports Nation will rebroadcast at 10 p.m. MT. They will also be available on demand at BYUtv.org
Other shows on BYUtv during the day include replays of the 1990 BYU-Miami game and the 1996 BYU-Wyoming game and rebroadcasts of "BYU Football: Four Decades of Dominance," and both the Spring and Signing Day specials.
In addition to BYUtv's programming throughout the day, BYUtv.org will be offering live video webchats with coaches and current and former players. Fans can submit questions for the webchats via Twitter using #BYUMediaDay. Information on webchat times and guests is available on BYUtv.org
