PROVO, Utah — BYU head coach Kalani Sitake has announced that Saturday’s spring scrimmage will be played in a Blue vs. White game format. Free to the public, gates open at 1 p.m. before the start at 2 p.m. at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

“We want to play a game format and make it exciting for the fans and for the team,” Sitake said. "With a limited number of offensive linemen available, we determined a way we could do that was to have our offensive line play for both offenses. We’re excited to see our guys play in a game situation at LaVell Edwards Stadium."

The team will conduct warmup drills at 2 p.m. before an extended period of 7-on-7 action prior to the start of the Blue vs. White game. Fans will be able to see quarterback Taysom Hill, who is still rehabbing an injury suffered last season, and others not able to play in the game portion during warmups and 7-on-7 drills.

The spring game is one of 15 practice sessions the team will conduct prior to spring drills concluding on April 1. Fans are invited to come get a first glimpse of the 2016 team as it continues spring preparations under the direction of a new coaching staff led by first-year head coach Kalani Sitake. The scrimmage is anticipated to conclude between 3:30 and 4 p.m.

Following spring practices the team will conduct offseason workouts before again resuming practice sessions in August in advance of the 2016 season opener against the Arizona Wildcats at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sept. 3.
