PROVO, Utah – BYU football wrapped up its final day of fall camp on Wednesday as its sights will shift to specific planning for the season opener.

"It was my favorite practice of fall camp today," BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall said. "We've looked really good offensively and defensively. Super competitive. Heatlhy players. Looking fast. A sense of optimism looking to Nebraska. So I really liked what I just saw."

The Cougars concluded with two practices prior to looking toward Nebraska on Sept. 5 in Lincoln.

Firesides

The team will continue its tradition of firesides beginning with the night before the Nebraska game on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. CDT at the Omaha Nebraska Stake Center. It will be the first fireside of the 2015 season.

Quotes from Bronco Mendenhall

"We're healthy, we're fast and we just look physical."

On young players:

"One of the biggest surprises in terms of a young player is Francis Bernard. I've really liked what he's done from a freshman perspective. Overall, we've brought in a lot of really good young players. So I'm super excited about our freshman class."

On receivers:

"Our philosophy is we like tall receivers. And we like rangy receivers, because most corners are shorter--safeties not quite so much. But that gives us an advantage matchup-wise. So our outside receivers we like tall and we have a bunch of them. Inside receivers we like a little quicker and faster with matchups on linebackers. We have both of those. As long as we stay healthy, I'm encouraged."
