BYU football set to begin fall camp with four open practices available for fans

Other upcoming fan events include Movie Night at LaVell Edwards Stadium, Cougar Kickoff, Cougar Sale and Big Blue Bash

PROVO, Utah — Cougar fans will have four different opportunities next week to see this year’s BYU football team prepare for the upcoming 2015 season. BYU starts fall camp this weekend as it prepares to open the season at Nebraska on Sept. 5.  

BYU fall camp practice sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 10-12) and the team scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 15, will be open to the public. Admission is free.

The open practices on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will take place on the outdoor practice field located north of the Student Athlete Building. Fans can park in the parking lot to the west of the practice field and enter through the west gate to the practice field beginning at 10 a.m. The practice will begin at 10:40 a.m. and conclude at approximately 12 p.m.

The open scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 15, will take place at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Parking is available in the south and southeast lots as well as the west lot. Gates 1, 5, 6, and 11 will open at 9:00 a.m., with the scrimmage getting underway at 10:20 a.m.

Fans can also take advantage of a several other events in August as BYU hosts a special movie night in LaVell Edwards Stadium as well as the annual Cougar Kickoff, Cougar Sale and Big Blue Bash.

Movie Night at LaVell Edwards Stadium

Movie Night at LaVell Edwards Stadium takes place Friday night, Aug. 14. Edwards Stadium gates 1 and 11 will open at 8 p.m. with the movie “Big Hero 6” starting at 9 p.m. Parking will be available in the south and southeast lots on movie night. Fans should bring blankets (no chairs) to sit on the field. The event is free. Concessions will be open on the field for fans.

Cougar Kickoff

The 11th annual Cougar Kickoff is scheduled from 6-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 at Haws Field. Athletes from the football, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and cross country teams will be available to sign autographs and run games and drills for fans and kids. Fans will also have the chance to take photos with Cosmo, the Cheer team and the Cougarettes. Admission is free.

Cougar Sale

Prior to Cougar Kickoff, the annual Cougar Sale takes place in the adjacent Indoor Practice Facility beginning at 5 p.m. Cougar Club members can gain early admission at 4:30 p.m. by presenting their membership card. The Cougar Sale, which goes to 7 p.m., allows fans to pick up gameday shirts and posters and purchase game-worn apparel, jerseys and more. Admission is free.

Big Blue Bash

BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall and members of the team will participate at the annual Big Blue Bash hosted by the Cougar Club on Friday evening, Aug. 21. This year’s Big Blue Bash will take place at the new America First Pavilion at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy. Gates open for the event at 7 p.m. with the program beginning at 8 p.m. The event is open to all fans. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 through the Cougar Club at 801-422-2583 or at the door for $10.
