Quotes from State of the Program on BYUtv

Tom Holmoe, Athletic Director
"If you look at the last four decades, there are only a handful of teams that have done more as far as winning percentages, winning championships and playing in bowl games."

"The biggest challenges we face – facilities, recruiting, schedule – is to try to get control of all those situations and own it and be proactive about it. We have to be on top of all those areas to get an edge."

Bronco Mendenhall, Head Football Coach
"A lot of things have to come together to have a great season. Our senior quarterback is back and healthy and our senior running back is back healthy. So the ingredients are there."

On the 2015 schedule:
"It's not a time to be complacent. We're going after anyone that will play us wherever they'll play us and we have the team to do it."

"We're scheduling games that we expect to win. We'd love for them to come to our stadium, but until then, we'll play them on the road."

"I love our starting quarterback. We need more depth at that position. We have some succession planning issues to work out. I like our depth at every other offensive position."

Robert Anae
"We have a lot of different personnel and we have guys that have earned playing time in various personnel groups which allows us to use more of our offense."

"We have guys that are accustomed to doing their assignment and their job. We have a line that can protect and we have a quarterback. I believe we can throw the ball at a high level."

Frank Wintrich
On being demanding:
"It sets a high standard and high precedent. We train them at a high level because we expect them to compete at a high level. That's why we are demanding."

Jamaal Williams
On his injury:
"It's tested me to stay strong and stay positive and work harder for my teammates and be at my best for them."

"It's fun being on offense. You don't have to worry about chasing other people. You can punish people and also make them feel foolish with jukes."

Taysom hill

"My health is good, I've been fully cleared to do everything. My ankle and my leg have responded really well."

"Jamaal and I have been here since day one. To see him go through his injury was really difficult to watch. But it's been fun to see his progress."

Quotes from Player/Coach Breakouts

Sophomore linebacker Fred Warner’s favorite BYU defensive player:
“Probably Bronson (Kaufusi). We play a similar position and he has an awesome work ethic.”

Warner on his decision to attend BYU:
“I like everything about what BYU stands for, I like the teammates and the coaching staff. I feel like I’m at home here. “

Offensive coordinator Robert Anae on the offense:
“Our deal is to create chaos out on the field.”

Defensive tackle Remington Peck’s on the favorite road trip of his career at BYU:
“There’s been a lot of them, but last year’s Texas game. It’s such a cool venue, we played really well and we came out on top.”

Peck on the road game he’s most excited for:
“Obviously there are some really cool ones, but I would have to say Nebraska. It’s the first one and there’s such anticipation for that game.”

Peck on the origin of his name:
“My family is huge into hunting and the outdoors, so I’m named after the gun.”

Assistant coach Steve Kaufusi on his son, DT Bronson Kaufusi, going into his senior year:
“I want him to do well. I want him to stay healthy. I’m proud of him.”

BYU wide receiver Mitch Mathews on BYU’s offense:
“We have an offense with a bunch of veterans. We’re starting off with guys that know what they are doing and that have been there before. A lot of guys just have to step up. It will be fun to see that.”
