PROVO, Utah — Brigham Young University and the University of Washington today announced the schools have agreed to a home-and-home football series for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

The Cougars and Huskies are scheduled play at Husky Stadium in Seattle on Sept. 29, 2018, with the second game of the series scheduled for LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, on Sept. 21, 2019.

“We’re excited to announce this series with the Huskies,” said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. “Washington has a great football tradition and they fit well with our philosophy of scheduling regional games. It gives our fans in the Pacific Northwest an opportunity to see our football team play live.”

BYU and Washington have played nine times previously in a series that dates back to BYU’s 31-3 victory in 1985. The Cougars and Huskies split the first eight contests, each going 3-1 at home, before Washington claimed a 5-4 series edge with last year’s Fight Hunger Bowl victory in the first postseason meeting between the two programs. Washington won four straight games in the series from 1986 to 1998 while BYU won three straight from 1999 to 2010.

With Washington now on the schedule, BYU has 22 future games scheduled with nine different teams from the Pac-12 Conference from 2014 through 2025.

Kickoff times and broadcast plans for the Washington games will be announced at a future date.
