PROVO, Utah (June 5, 2014) — BYU and UCLA today announced a home-and-home football series for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

The Cougars and Bruins will meet at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on Sept. 19, 2015 and again at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah, on Sept. 17, 2016.

“I’m excited for this series with UCLA. It’s a great matchup versus an opponent rich in football tradition, and a team that will be fighting for a Pac-12 championship,” said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. “It’s also a great opportunity for our large fan base in Southern California to see the Cougars play in the Rose Bowl—one of the most storied football venues in the country.”

BYU, independent in football, and UCLA of the Pac-12 renew a series that has featured 10 games between the two schools dating back to 1983. The Cougars and Bruins first met on Oct. 1, 1983 with BYU earning a 37-35 victory at the Rose Bowl. On the strength of six wins from 1985 to 1995, UCLA holds a 7-3 advantage in the series.

The Cougars are 2-1 against the Bruins under current head coach Bronco Mendenhall. The two schools met twice in 2007 with UCLA achieving a 27-17 regular-season home win before BYU responded with a 17-16 victory in the 2007 Las Vegas Bowl. The Cougars won the last meeting 59-0 at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Sept. 13, 2008.
