PROVO, Utah -  The BYU football team conducted its 13th spring practice, this time indoors, following the spring scrimmage that was held on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

"We had a hard workday today coming off the scrimmage," BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall said. "We got a ton of work (during the scrimmage) for a few players that we needed to see depth-wise. A few players emerged: Dallin Leavitt in the secondary did a really nice job. Trevor Bateman in the secondary had a nice day. I already mentioned Zac Stout after the scrimmage. I would say Austin Heder and Tanner Balderree from a defensive perspective. Offensively, Kurt Henderson did a nice job, Terenn Houk really stepped up, as well as Michael Davis started to emerge not only Saturday but today."

One of the highlights from Saturday's scrimmage came from Davis when he caught a 53-yard pass from quarterback Taysom Hill. The sophomore receiver also made a big play in practice off a slant route as he hauled in the quick pass from Hill and simply outran the defense to score a 60-yard touchdown.

Senior quarterback Christian Stewart connected with receiver Nick Kurtz on an earlier series for a similarly-long touchdown pass. On that play, Stewart found Kurtz just past the secondary on a deep ball.

The defense recorded two sacks late in the practice to slow down the rhythm of the offense.

The team has two remaining spring practices, which will conclude with Alumni Day on Friday.
