PROVO, Utah — BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy has been named to the Walter Camp All-America Team, it was announced Thursday by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Van Noy received second-team honors on the Walter Camp All-America Team, the nation’s oldest All-America award. This year’s class marks the 124th edition of the prestigious team. Tight end Dennis Pitta was the last BYU player to earn Walter Camp recognition in 2009.

Named to several All-America teams in 2012, Van Noy becomes the first Cougar since Pitta to receive All-America status in back-to-back seasons, something Pitta achieved in 2008 and 2009.

Van Noy, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound senior outside backer, was often found in the opponent backfield during the 2013 season, totaling 16 tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hurries, four sacks and a safety while helping BYU to an 8-4 record. He also contributed 63 tackles, a fumble recovery, seven pass breakups and two interceptions, including the fifth defensive touchdown of his career.

Van Noy was the only FBS player in 2011 and 2012 to record a statistic in every major defensive category and lacks only a blocked kick and forced fumble in BYU’s bowl game to again record a stat in every category.
