BYU at Utah State - Week 6

PROVO, Utah -- BYU hits the road for the first time since August, taking on Utah State Friday in Logan, Utah, at 6 p.m. MDT.

The Cougars (2-2) have defeated the Aggies (3-2, 2-0 MW) five times during the Bronco Mendenhall era and are on a two-game win streak in the series.

Kickoff is projected for 6:05 p.m. MDT. The game will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network, which can be found on Comcast Ch. 269/753 HD in Cache Valley, as well as on DirecTV Ch. 221 and DISH Network Ch. 158. Comcast customers outside of Utah can find their local CBS Sports station with the channel finder on the CBS Sports website. Fans can listen in on the Cougar IMG Sports Network 1160 AM, 102.7 FM and BYUcougars.com.

The Countdown to Kickoff pregame show will begin at 5 p.m. MDT on BYUtv and BYUtvsports.com. Fans can also tune in to BYUtv and BYUtvsports.com for the live postgame show at the conclusion of the game. Radio coverage will begin at 4 p.m. MDT on the Cougar IMG Sports Network 1160 AM/102.7 FM and BYU Radio (SiriusXM channel 143).

Series with Utah State

BYU is 45-34-4 vs. Utah State, winning 55 percent of the teams’ 82 meetings. In the Bronco Mendenhall era, the Cougars have only lost to Utah State once and are on a two-game win streak vs. the Aggies. USU’s last win was in 2010.

Mountain West opponents

BYU is 272-161-13 against Mountain West opponents, with the last victory coming vs. San Diego State in the 2012 Poinsettia Bowl. BYU won 24-21. 

BYU offense

Quarterback Taysom Hill averages 141.3 rushing yards per game, which ranks sixth in the nation. He’s tied for 12th in the nation for rushing touchdowns with six.

BYU averages 307.2 rushing yards, which is fourth in the nation, while Utah State averages 126.6 defensive rushing yards, which is 38th in the nation.

Cody Hoffman needs three touchdowns and nine receptions to become the BYU all-time record holder in each of those categories. He needs three more 100-yard receiving games to become the BYU leader in that category.

BYU defense

BYU’s defense has 15 players with double-digit tackles in 2013, led by Uani 'Unga's 29. Kyle Van Noy has 28, Eathyn Manumaleuna has 25 and Alani Fua has 22. Ten players have 15 or more tackles.
