PROVO, Utah – Brigham Young University and the University of Utah today announced the two schools have agreed to a home-and-home series for 2017 and 2018.

Under the new contract, the Cougars will play in Provo on Sept. 9, 2017 and in Salt Lake City on Nov. 24, 2018. With two games already under contract, BYU and Utah will now play the Deseret First Duel four times in the next six years — 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

"As many people are aware we have been working on these two games for awhile," said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. "It’s an important historical series for the state and the fans of both schools. It’s nice to have it completed."

Since BYU officially began playing football in 1922, the Cougars and Utes have played 88 times. Utah holds the overall series record of 53-31-4.
