Four players garner national awards
BYU received numerous national honors after its 40-21 win over No. 15/16 Texas on Saturday, including the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week.
Four different players garnered attention nationally for their performances.
Sophomore quarterback Taysom Hill rushed for a career-high 259 yards and three touchdowns to help the Cougars top the Longhorns. Senior kicker Justin Sorensen also helped add to the score as he went a perfect 4 for 4 in both field goals and PATs.
Running back Jamaal Williams set his new career high with 182 rushing yards. The sophomore is currently ranked No. 2 in the country in total rushing yards for the season.
Defensively, junior Alani Fua tallied seven tackles (five solo), 2.0 sacks and 2.0 tackles for loss in the victory.
The Cougars have a bye this week and will face in-state rival Utah on Sep. 21, at 8:15 p.m. MT at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
