PROVO, Utah - BYU football completed its fall camp with a practice at LaVell Edwards Stadium Wednesday morning.

“It was another chance to get one final look at a few situations today,” head coach Bronco Mendenhall said. “We did some two-minute, some third and fourth down management at the midfield area. The most important function of today was to identify personnel. We found out a little bit more in terms of execution on either side of the ball and that was the intent.”

The the team used the whole length of the field with an emphasis on situational special teams and 11-on-11 sessions.

Quarterback Taysom Hill went 6 for 9 for 81 yards with a long bomb to tight end Brett Thompson for 56 yards, while adding 39 yards rushing on two carries. Running back Paul Lasike ran five times for 24 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown dive up the middle. Quarterback Ammon Olsen finished the practice going 2 for 4 for 27 yards with a touchdown and interception. Olsen found tight end Devin Mahina for a 20-yard score, watching Mahina brake two tackles in the process. The touchdown was set up by a 27-yard run from Algernon Brown where he ran over two players and broke multiple tackles. On the defensive side of the ball, defensive back Robertson Daniel recorded an interception and Austen Jorgensen registered a sack.

In the kicking game, Justin Sorensen nailed a 20 yarder and went 1 for 2 from 37 yards. Vance Bingham hit a field goal from 38 yards out.

The team will now transition into game preparations for its season opener at Virginia Aug. 31.
