Fall camp continues
PROVO, Utah - In its last week of fall camp, the BYU football team finished its first practice of the week on Monday morning.
"We had three-deep in the seconday today which was good," head coach Bronco Mendenhall said. "As we get closer and closer to game day, rather than just move the ball, more and more situations are being emphasised."
The team, dressed in shoulder pads and helmets, participated in individual drills, special teams sitatuions and blue zone practice, among other sessions.
Freshman Michael Davis, who came to BYU as a wide receiver, played on the other side of the ball as a defensive back and made his presence felt quickly by picking off a Taysom Hill pass. Other highlights from the morning included a 31-yard touchdown run by sophomore running back Jamaal Williams and a fumble recovery by freshman linebacker Matthew Relei.
Three new players were added to the roster over the weekend: Luke Nelson, Jonny Linehan and Khalil Bell. Both Linehan and Bell are listed as defensive backs while Nelson saw time in practice as a receiver.
The Cougars resume practice Monday afternoon.
