Cougars begin week two of fall camp
PROVO, Utah - BYU's football team began its second week of fall camp Monday morning with its first of two practices of the day.
"The team was a little sluggish this morning," head coach Bronco Mendenhall said. "First two-a-day after the end of week one, morning practice; not defiant but sluggish and the realization that there are 19 more days until we play and they're in two-a-days looked to me that it had an effect on them. Execuation was about the same, we just played slower."
The Cougars wore shoulder pads and helmets and ran a lot of team and special teams drills in practice.
In the team 11-on-11 session at the end of practice, quarterback Taysom Hill led the offense on a 9-play drive that culminated with Vance Bingham hitting one of two field goals from 30 yards out. During later drives, quarterback Ammon Olsen found wide receiver Mitch Matthews for a 55-yard catch and run for a touchdown and linebacker Uani Unga intercepted a pass. Hill found Kaneakua Friel for a 40-yard bomb on the last series.
BYU's two-a-days practice resumes Monday afternoon.
