BYU upset fourth-ranked Arizona to earn the WAC title and advance to the 1971 World Series. The Cougars placed fifth in the World Series, losing in the opening game to Harvard, 4-1. All-American Dane Iorg homered in the top of the ninth inning for BYU’s only run against Harvard.
