Chavez transfers to BYU

Devin Chavez, a 6-foot-five, 210-lbs., right-handed pitcher from Las Vegas is transferring to BYU’s baseball team.

"Devin is a big power arm who will really add depth to our pitching staff,” BYU coach Mike Littlewood said.  “We are extremely happy Devin chose to join the BYU baseball family."

Last season at Colby Community College in Kansas, Chavez had a 3-5 record with a  3.82 earned run average in 58.2 innings.

In 2011 at Parkland Community College in Illinois he had a 1-0 record with four appearances and a 6.17 ERA.

Chavez prepped at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas where he was team MVP, captain, all-conference and played on the three-time American Legion championship team.

Chavez was recruited by Cal State Northridge, Hawai`i Pacific University and Western Oregon University.
