First-place BYU baseball returns to league play
League play returns on Thursday at Portland (13-3) for BYU baseball (7-8) after a four-week respite from West Coast Conference action.
BYU is in first place in the WCC with a 2-1 record, with the rest of the league in conference games next week. Chris Capper (0-4, 3.51), Mark Anderson (4-0, 1.85) and Adam Miller (1-1, 1.93)will start on the mound for BYU on Thursday (3 p.m. PDT), Friday (3 p.m. PDT) and Saturday (1 p.m. PDT), respectively.
“Every game is important, particularly in the league,” BYU coach Vance Law said. “We want to try and stay in first place. It was tough to play a conference game the second weekend of our season. Now it is time for us to really get things rolling.
“Portland is playing with a lot of confidence. We have got to get swinging our bats the way we are capable of doing.”
