Facing Future Foe Pepperdine
A preview of a future West Coast Conference opponent takes place this week when BYU's baseball team plays three non-league games at Pepperdine University.
On Thursday afternoon, BYU sophomore Taylor Cole (3-1, 2.08) takes the mound for the Cougars who bring a 12-11 record into the series, while Pepperdine is 13-11. The games on Friday and Saturday will be broadcast live locally over Radio 960 AM/92.9 FM and on the Internet through BYU Radio at 3 p.m., and 1 p.m. MT, respectively.
On the hill for BYU on Friday will be sophomore Chris Capper (1-2, 2.70), while Saturday's starting pitcher is TBA for the Cougars.
"It doesn't change anything," says BYU coach Vance Law in reference to these non-conference games. "We are not going to experiment no matter who we are playing. Pepperdine is a good team with good tradition and will be a future conference foe."
Following the Pepperdine series, the Cougars return to Provo for another non-conference game on Tuesday when they host Utah Valley University.
