Trio Named MWC Scholar-Athletes
Catcher Wes Guenther and pitchers Shawn Hardesty and David Parry of BYU’s baseball team were named Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athletes on Wednesday.
Guenther, a sophomore from Overland Park, Kansas, had a 3.76 GPA in exercise science. Hardesty, a junior from Ramona, Calif., was a repeat selection as an MWC Scholar-Athlete and had a 3.53 GPA in English. Parry, a junior from Spartanburg, S.C., had a 3.87 GPA in pre-management.
These three baseball players were also selected to the MWC All-Academic squad.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
