COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – BYU sophomore Alex Wolfe, New Mexico senior Willy Kesler and San Diego State junior Addison Reed have been named Mountain West Conference Player and Co-Pitchers of the Week, respectively. This is the third career weekly honor for Reed and second for Wolfe, while Kesler picks up his first career weekly accolade.

Wolfe turned in a 6-for-11 (.545) effort at the plate as the Cougars went 2-1 against MWC opponent Utah last week. His walk-off hits drove in the game-winning runs in both victories, finishing the series with four RBI, four runs scored, one double, one home run and one walk overall.

In Thursday’s 9-7 win, the Orem native hit a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to put BYU on top, 8-7, then scored an insurance run for the Cougars later in the frame. On Saturday, Wolfe’s two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth lifted BYU to a 6-4 victory.

Over the three-game series, he compiled a .909 slugging percentage and .643 on-base percentage. Defensively, Wolfe split time between first and third base, tallying 15 putouts and three assists. He raised his batting average from .321 to .338. He is batting .400 in league games with a .783 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .478.

Kesler and Reed each recorded complete-game shutouts in their respective outings last week. Kesler worked all nine innings of the Lobos’ 6-0 series finale win at Air Force on Sunday. Reed surrendered just three singles and no walks over his nine-inning stint in the Aztecs’ 18-0, series-opening win against non-conference foe Wagner last Friday. He fanned a career-high 12 batters while facing just two over the minimum.
