Coach Vance Law will have a busy January before BYU baseball practices begin on Feb. 1.

First on the agenda for Law and his assistants is the annual American Baseball Coaches Association Convention in Dallas, Jan. 7-10. Glen Tuckett, former director of BYU athletics and former BYU baseball coach, currently chairs the board of directors for the ABCA. Former BYU baseball coach Gary Pullins is also on the ABCA board.

On Jan. 14-17, Law will again participate in the annual weekend seminar for Major League Baseball in Washington, D.C., for his 18th year. Law assists in the annual Rookie Career Development Program, which lasts two and a half days. Law, who also played 14 years of professional baseball with six different teams, is one of a couple former Major Leaguers who helped instruct the prospects.

On Jan. 24-26, he will attend the BAT (Baseball Assistance Training) Dinner at its 21st annual meetings in New York City.

Law also announced the captains for his 2010 squad as voted on by the team. Those captains are his son Andrew and fellow seniors Jonathan Cluff, Sean McNaughton, Brandon Relf, and Kevin Sloan.
