New Mexico Series
A bus trip to New Mexico brings a three-game series starting for BYU's second-place baseball team.
The Cougars, 26-16 overall and 10-5 in the Mountain West Conference, take on New Mexico, 21-23 and 7-8.
Facing off in Thursday's game at 6 p.m., will be BYU's Jesse Craig (7-2, 3.20) against the Lobos' Stephen Smith (5-6, 7.31). Friday's game, also at 6 p.m., has Cougar Jordan Muir (5-3, 5.84) against Bobby LaFromboise (5-2, 3.32). Saturday's game at 1 p.m., features lefties Jake Wortham (5-4, 5.08) for BYU and Jacob Norton (4-6, 6.28) for UNM.
BYU got good news with Collin Fanning returning to the lineup. The team's number two base-stealer missed last Saturday's game with a possible hairline fracture, which was later determined to be a shin splint. However, utility player Jason Johnson is out indefinitely following a surgical procedure this week from an injury in practice.
All of this week's games can be heard live locally on KOVO (960 AM) radio.
