Six-Game Streak On Line
A rematch Tuesday between BYU and Southern Utah's baseball team will have a bearing on the Cougars' current six-game win streak.
Twice SUU has ended long BYU win streaks, a nine-gamer in 2001 in Provo and a 10-gamer in 1977 at Cedar City.
The Cougars, 21-13 overall, bring their six-game streak starting from the final game of Binghamton, through sweeps of UNLV and Washington to match against SUU, with a 5-31 record. The six-game Cougar streak is the longest of this season. Game time is 6 p.m., at Larry H. Miller Field on Tuesday.
Both teams have been idle since last Wednesday when BYU completed a two-game sweep of Washington and SUU lost twice in one day at Utah and at Utah Valley State.
BYU is scheduled to start freshman lefty Blaine Howell (1-1, 6.45). BYU won 20-2 against SUU last February in a game moved from Cedar City to St. George in the only meeting between the two this season. The teams are scheduled to play again on May 8 in Provo.
After Tuesday's SUU game, BYU travels to league-leading TCU for games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, all at 6:30 p.m. CDT.
The Thunderbirds are in the middle of nine games on the road, ending with a three-game series at Oral Roberts following the game with BYU.
