A six-game winning streak is on the line Tuesday when BYU's baseball team travels across town to play Utah Valley State at 7 p.m.

The Cougars have risen to .500 for the first time this season with a 22-22 overall record will face UVSC with a 14-32 mark. BYU has lost only back-to-back games to TCU since defeating UVSC, 11-6, in mid-April at Provo. The Cougars are 2-0 against the Wolverines this season. The Cougars were 4-1 in last year's first meetings between the two teams.

UVSC is scheduled to throw ace Kam Mikolio (4-6, 5.19) against BYU for the first time this season. BYU's starter is yet to be announced in a pre-designated rotation.

The two teams are scheduled to meet one more time in 2006, on May 16 at BYU.

BYU returns to Mountain West Conference action on Thursday when it hosts New Mexico in a three-game series. The Cougars are currently in fourth place of the MWC, while UNM is in second place.

The Cougars are the only college baseball team in the state that doesn't have any remaining regular season games out of state. BYU plays at UVSC, then hosts UNM and San Diego State as well as Southern Utah and the Wolverines before ending the regular season in a three-game series at the University of Utah.
