Deming receives four national player of the week awards
SAN MATEO, Calif. – In addition to being named West Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday, BYU third baseman Austin Deming has been recognized as national player of the week by four baseball organizations for his performance versus Utah and UNC Greensboro last week.
The senior from Santa Clara, Utah, was honored by the Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week as the NCBWA National Hitter of the Week, by D1Baseball|Blast Baseball as National Player of the Week, by Perfect Game|Rawlings as the College Player of the Week and by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper as one of its National Players of the Week.
Deming led the Cougars to a 3-1 record, including a series sweep (14-8, 19-8, 13-11) of the Spartans. In game three of the UNCG series on Saturday, he hit a two-out grand slam in the seventh inning that proved to be the game winner and clinch the series sweep.
