Cougars versus Cougars in Pullman on Monday
PULLMAN, Wash. — Up next for BYU baseball is a rare Monday midday game at Washington State on April 3. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PDT at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman, Washington.
BROADCAST PLANS. Monday’s game will be broadcast live on the BYU Radio App and simulcast on 107.9 in the northern Utah market. The voice of the Cougars, Greg Wrubell, will have the call. WSU will also broadcast the game live on PAC 12 Network.
COUGARS-VS-COUGARS HISTORY. The contest will be the 45th meeting between BYU and Washington State in baseball. WSU is 25-19 all-time versus BYU. The first meeting between the two schools was a four-game series played in Provo on April 5-6, 1971, with the home team winning three of the four games. The Provo Cougars also won the most recent game with WSU on March 29, 2022, at Miller Park by a score of 9-3.
BYU REVIEW. The Cougars enter the game in Pullman with an 9-17 record. BYU played a three-game series over the weekend in Spokane with West Coast Conference rival Gonzaga. The Zags won the bookend games of the series, 5-1 and 8-2, while BYU took the Friday night contest, 6-5.
WSU RECAP. The Pullman Cougars are 17-9 in 2023, with a home record of 8-3. WSU is coming off a two-game sweep of UCLA over the weekend, defeating the No. 12 ranked Bruins 9-5 on Friday and 5-1 on Sunday.
UP NEXT. Following the Monday game at Washington State, BYU returns to Provo to host San Francisco in a three-game WCC series, April 6-8, at Miller Park.
