Cougars host UVU Tuesday at Miller Park
PROVO, Utah — BYU baseball returns to action on Tuesday, March 21, against Utah Valley in a game scheduled for 3 p.m. MDT at Miller Park.
The game will air live on the BYU Radio App and BYU Radio 107.9 FM in the northern Utah market, with Greg Wrubell on the call. The contest will also be broadcast on the BYUtv App and via BYUtv.org with Dave McCann and Gary Sheide providing the play-by-play and analysis.
Tuesday will be the 44th all-time meeting between the Cougars and the Wolverines, and the first of two games in 2023 between the neighboring universities. The second game of the season series is scheduled to be played at UCCU Ballpark in Orem, Utah, on March 28. A previous game was scheduled between the two teams for earlier in the 2023 season but was canceled to due inclement weather.
The Cougars are 34-9 all-time versus the Wolverines and have won 13-straight games dating back to May 10, 2016. The first game between the two schools was held on March 8, 2005, a BYU 15-8 win.
UVU enters Tuesday’s contest with a 12-9 record and are 1-2 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Wolverines were 2-2 last week, defeating Northwest Nazarene, 11-9, on Tuesday before playing a three-game series at Seattle University over the weekend. UVU won the first game on Friday (5-1) but dropped the final two games on Saturday (1-14) and Sunday (6-8).
BYU also played four games last week, going 2-2, and is now 6-12 on the year, 1-2 in West Coast Conference play. The Cougars posted a one-hit, 7-0, shutout over Utah on Tuesday, before going 1-2 at LMU over the weekend. BYU lost game one of the series on Thursday (12-2) but bounced back to win game two on Friday (7-0), before dropping the rubber-match on Saturday (10-9) in a slugfest.
Following the Tuesday evening game with UVU, BYU welcomes WCC foe Saint Mary’s (6-11, 1-2), to Provo for a three-game series. Weather permitting the games are scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. MDT, with the Saturday contest slated for 1 p.m.
