BYU claimed a, 6-4, victory over the Mavericks in the last meeting in Provo on March 10, 2018. During the 2021 season, the Mavericks swept a three-games series from the Cougars at newly opened Tal Anderson Field in Omaha, April 15-17. BYU won the other three games in the series on March 9, 2018 (13-3) and March 8, 2018 (8-1) at BYU and March 12, 2012 (19-9) in Omaha.

OMAHA RECAP. The Mavericks are 2-6 (0-0) on the year, with a road record of 1-6 at UCLA (0-3) and Fresno State (1-3). They are currently 1-0 at home, coming off a, 7-6, win Tuesday over Kansas State in Omaha.

MAVERICKS PROJECTED STARTERS. Junior left hander Caleb Riedel (0-2, 3.72 ERA) will start on Thursday for Omaha, with junior righty Preston Tenney (0-2, 14.09 ERA) slated to start on Friday. Three of the four games in the Louisiana series were determined by one run.
