LAFAYETTE, La. — Louisiana defeated BYU, 11-0, in game two of a four-game baseball series at M.L. Moore Field at Russo Park in Lafayette on Thursday night.
The Ragin’ Cajuns, who advanced to the NCAA regionals in 2022, improved to 4-1 this season, while the Cougars dropped to 2-4.
“Louisiana got some momentum early and it was hard to stop them,” said BYU head coach Trent Pratt. “We had a couple of chances in the middle innings to swing the momentum our way but couldn’t capitalize with a big hit.”
Game Summary
• Louisiana scored 11 runs on 13 hits, while BYU collected five hits
• Ozzie Pratt’s double in the third inning gives him an NCAA D1 leading seven for the season
• Winning pitcher Tommy Ray went six innings, surrendering just three hits for the win
BYU Highlights
• Ozzie Pratt: 1-4, 2B
• Cole Gambill: 1-3, 2B
• Ryan Sepede: 1-2, 1B, BB
• Carter Foss: 1.2 IP, 4 SO

Four runs in the fifth inning increased the Louisiana lead to 8-0, and three more in the eighth pushed the final score to 11-0.
Game three of the four-game series is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. CST. The series is being broadcast live on the BYU Radio App and BYU Radio 107.9 FM in the northern Utah market, with Jason Shepherd on play-by-play. In addition, Louisiana will broadcast the Saturday game on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald and Brennan Breaux calling the game.
