Baseball hosts Dixie State at Miller Park Tuesday

PROVO, Utah — BYU baseball is at home Tuesday, May 10, for a midweek game with Dixie State. The first pitch for the non-conference game is scheduled for 5 p.m. MDT.

SERIES HISTORY. Tuesday’s contest will be the 14th meeting between BYU and Dixie State and the second of two games between the two schools in 2022. The Trailblazers won the first meeting of the two-game series earlier this year 7-5 in St. George on April 5.

TRAILBLAZER REVIEW. Dixie State enters Tuesday’s game with an 18-28 overall record and is 12-15 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Trailblazers are coming off a three-game home series with Seattle University over the weekend where the Redhawks won the series 2-1 (11-3, 5-15, 14-9). 

COUGAR RECAP. BYU is 27-18 on the year and 11-10 in West Coach Conference action. The Cougars are 6-4 in their last 10 games, including a series sweep at Pepperdine over the weekend. BYU entered the series tied with the Waves for seventh place in the WCC. The sweep moved the Cougars up two spots to fifth place with just six regular-season conference games remaining. The top six teams advance to the WCC baseball tournament May 25-28 at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, Calif. 

WEEKEND SERIES. Following the Tuesday-night game with Dixie State, BYU will host Pacific in a three-game WCC series at Miller Park, May 12-14. The Thursday game is being broadcast on ESPNU with an 8 p.m. MDT start. The Friday game is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the Saturday game set for 1 p.m.
