McLaughlin Named Preseason All-American
PROVO, Utah – BYU sophomore pitcher Reid McLaughlin was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Preseason All‐American Third Team, the organization announced Thursday.
A right hander from Scottsdale, Arizona, McLaughlin was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game and to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team last season. In 2019, McLaughlin posted a 7-1 record with four saves as a reliever, becoming the first pitcher in BYU history to earn at least seven wins and four saves in a season.
In 51.2 innings over 25 games last year, McLaughlin had a 2.61 ERA, totaling 46 strikeouts against just 11 walks on the year.
Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.
