PROVO, Utah – BYU sophomore pitcher Reid McLaughlin was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Preseason All‐American Third Team, the organization announced Thursday.

A right hander from Scottsdale, Arizona, McLaughlin was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game and to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team last season. In 2019, McLaughlin posted a 7-1 record with four saves as a reliever, becoming the first pitcher in BYU history to earn at least seven wins and four saves in a season.

In 51.2 innings over 25 games last year, McLaughlin had a 2.61 ERA, totaling 46 strikeouts against just 11 walks on the year.
