Cougars to Play Three at Pacific
PROVO, Utah - BYU (26-10, 10-5) baseball continues West Coast Conference action this week with three games at Pacific (21-19, 8-10).
The Cougars are coming off a series win at Washington, winning two of three in Seattle. BYU allowed just two earned runs all weekend as the team won its seventh series in nine tries this year.
BYU's pitching staff continues to be one of the strongest in the country, boasting a 3.47 ERA, .240 opposing batting average, 2.97 walks allowed per game and 7.39 strikeouts per game. If the season ended today, all four marks would be the best in program history since 1969.
Senior Jordan Wood (4-1, 4.10), sophomore Easton Walker (5-0, 0.89) and sophomore Justin Sterner (7-3, 2.58) will again make up the rotation for BYU.
At the plate, sophomore Jackson Cluff is among the nation's leaders averaging 1.14 RBIs per game and 1.08 runs per game. Senior Brian Hsu leads the Cougars with a .366 average while senior Brock Hale has a team-high seven home runs with a .476 on-base percentage.
The Cougars are 10-5 in the WCC, tied by win percentage for first with Gonzaga, LMU and San Francisco, all at 12-6. The top four teams in the conference qualify to play in the WCC Tournament the last weekend in May. Pacific is in eighth at 8-10.
The Thursday and Friday games will start at 6 p.m. PT with the Saturday game at 1 p.m. PT. All three games will be streamed live on TheW.tv and will air on BYU Radio and ESPN 960.
