Former Players Reunite at Alumni Weekend
PROVO, Utah – BYU baseball alumni gathered from across the country to participate in the program’s annual alumni weekend. Events included golf, meals and an alumni game at Miller Park.
More than 70 former players from six different decades started the weekend with an outing at TalonsCove Golf Course in Saratoga Springs, Utah, on Friday. The group played a round of golf and competed in other skills contests.
“I believe our alumni are the foundation of our program,” said BYU head coach Mike Littlewood. “It was awesome to see players who haven’t seen each other in many years reunite, laugh together, and tell stories. It was also great to see former coaches Glen Tuckett and Gary Pullins out playing golf and mingling with the groups as well.”
Alumni reunited again on Friday for a quick game at Miller Park and photo ops on the field with friends and family. The weekend concluded with dinner at the park and attending the Cougars’ football game against Cal.
“It’s fun to reminisce and bring teammates from out of town,” said Tyler Dabo, a pitcher on the team from 2002-03 and currently an entrepreneur living in West Jordan, Utah. “We couldn’t pick a better weekend. To come out here and throw and pitch and let your teammates know you’ve still got it is fun.”
Littlewood expressed appreciation for those alumni who attended and all who help and support the program. “Many people don’t realize the support our alumni give us with their time and talents, as well as financially,” Littlewood said. “We wouldn’t have the opportunities we do without them.”
