Anderson selected to preseason All-America team
Second baseman Brennon Anderson of BYU baseball has been named Preseason Third Team All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America.
The senior from Draper was No. 3 in the NCAA in total runs scored (71), No. 5 in runs per game (1.20), No. 14 in doubles (23) and No. 18 in hits (90) as the Cougars’ leadoff batter last season. The tri-captain led the WCC in overall games for hits, runs, doubles and total bases and led league in WCC games only for hits (45) and runs (30).
“Brennon has worked extremely hard during his time at BYU and I couldn’t be happier for him,” BYU Coach Mike Littlewood said. “He is really the engine that makes our team go and he is well deserving of this honor.”
The 5-foot-10 senior has home-run power, too, smacking a grand slam against UC Santa Barbara for one of his six homers last season and a three-run homer in a 9-4 upset at No. 3 LSU as a freshman before serving a mission to Chile.
