A new era begins in 2018 for BYU baseball centered around its schedule and new artificial surface.

The 2018 season begins on Feb. 16 at Cal State Northridge.

“We are very excited about our 2018 schedule,” BYU coach Mike Littlewood said. “Coach (Trent) Pratt did a fantastic job putting together a quality schedule against formidable opponents. We have really challenged ourselves in non-conference by playing 10 games against Pac-12 and SEC opponents, as well as road games against Cal State Northridge and Hawaii.

“This will give us a great opportunity to build a solid RPI and give us an idea where we stand as a team early in the season,” Littlewood said. “I’m really excited for Cougar Nation to see our new playing surface and field renovation, it’s truly an amazing sight to behold.”

A four-game series on Feb. 22 at Hawaii follows the games at CSUN. Then BYU travels to Auburn University in Alabama for a three-game a series.

The home season begins on the new Larry H. Miller Field with a three-game series against Nebraska-Omaha starting March 8.

BYU starts defending its West Coast Conference crown on March 17 against Loyola Marymount. In addition to LMU, fellow WCC tri-champion Gonzaga will play the Cougars in Provo the next week.

Rival Utah plays two of the respective four-game series in Provo. In addition to also playing at Utah, the Cougars play games on the road against Pac-12 teams Arizona, Cal-Berkeley and Stanford. BYU ended last season at Stanford in the NCAA Regionals.
