Second and third national player of the week honors have been announced for BYU baseball outfielder Keaton Kringlen for his play last week against Utah and Saint Mary's College.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Kringlen as its National Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. College Sports Madness named Kringlen its national player of the week after an identical honor was released by Collegiate Baseball magazine on Monday.College

Sports Madness also named Kringlen its West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Kringlen had earlier been named Rawlings WCC Player of the Week by the league office.

Kringlen was key in all of BYU's four victories last week at Utah and in the sweep over then-league-leading Saint Mary's.

In game three against SMC (14-1) he hit three home runs (second inning solo, 3-run homer in seventh and 3-run homer in the 8th) in a 14-1 victory.

In game one against SMC (7-6) he had the game-winning RBI with a two-run inside-the-park home run in the seventh inning before the 55-minute rain delay.

Kringlen also made a highlight-worthy diving catch to end the sixth inning in game two against SMC in left field foul territory corner.

For last week, Kringlen raised his overall batting average from .322 to .356. In the four games last week he had a slugging percentage of 1.571 with a batting average of .571.
