Slade named Director of Baseball Operations
Tuckett Slade has recently been hired as BYU¹s new director of baseball operations.
“Tuckett is a great baseball guy, a tireless worker and a terrific person,” BYU head baseball coach Mike Littlewood said. “Tuckett bleeds blue and we welcome his wife Jamie and daughter Miya to our baseball family."
Slade was an assistant baseball coach the past four years at Salt Lake Community College. Prior to SLCC, Slade was the head coach at his alma mater West High School for two seasons.
He has also coached for four years and was the assistant general manager for two years with the Marshall Gates Foundation Elite Summer BaseballProgram. In that role he worked with several future BYU Cougars including Colton Shaver, Tanner Chauncey and Keaton Kringlen.
Slade also served as head instructor at Frozen Ropes Baseball Academy in Utah for a year-and-a-half.
Slade graduated from West High School in 2004 where he was selected as an All-Region first baseman three times, and selected twice as an All-State team member. He went on to play collegiate baseball at Colorado Northwestern Community College and Bellevue University.
At Bellevue he was the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Champion (MCAC) in ‘08 and ‘09 and participated in the 2008 NAIA World Series. He led the Bellevue Bruins with a .447 batting average his senior year and earned the honor of Academic All-America. He was also selected as the MCAC Male Scholar Athlete of they ear and earned Second Team All-Nebraska and Second Team MCAC honors.
Slade's first name was given to him by his parents in honor of his father's former college roommate, Phil Tuckett, who worked for years with the National Football League Films. Phil Tuckett is a relative of former BYU baseball coach and athletic director Glen Tuckett.
Slade earned his bachelor’s degree from Bellevue University in 2009 in physical education and sports studies with a minor in coaching theory. He and his wife, Jaime, and their two-year-old daughter Miya live in Salt Lake City.
