Lefty Aaron Cross transfers to BYU

Left-handed pitcher Aaron Cross is transferring to BYU’s baseball team after signing a recent letter of intent.

Cross, 6-foot-1, 180, is from Rialto, Calif., and was at San Diego State for two years and pitched this past season at Grossmont College in El Cajon, California. He prepped at Mater Dei High School where he was coached by former Cougar Burt Call.  He will have two years of eligibility at BYU.

“Aaron brings a wealth of experience and he's committed to helping our program reach new heights,” BYU coach Mike Littlewood said.  “He'll play a huge role for us immediately and Cougar fans will love the energy he brings to the field.“

At Grossmont he made 22 appearances with a 2-1 record, six saves in 31 innings with 41 strikeouts and a 0.29 earned run average. He redshirted at SDSU in 2015 when he had successful Tommy John surgery and pitched in five games as a freshman in 2014. 

At Mater Dei High he was Trinity League Pitcher of the Year with a 9-2 record, two saves and a 0.58 ERA, striking out 39, walking 19 in 60.1 innings.  He was selected second-team all-state and on the all-county team. He played for BPA Team DeMarini at the 2013 WWBA 17 Under National Championship Tournament in Georgia.

Prior to attending SDSU, he was recruited by Arizona, Utah and San Jose State.
